Mary Jane HigmanBethany offers a variety of programs and activities for children from birth to Grade 5, coordinated by our Children's Director, Mary Jane Higman.

Children's Ministries include Bethany Kids' Connection (our Children's Sunday School programs), Pioneer Club on Sunday evenings, Wonderful Wednesdays during the summer, and special events throughout the year. Children's Choirs are provided as part of our Music & Drama ministry.

Infants and Toddlers are cared for in our Infant & Toddler Nursery, located in the 1st floor of the new addition.

Bethany Kids' Connection is our Sunday School program for children ages 2 through 5th grades. Classes are grouped by age/grade as follows:

  • 2 & 3 year olds
  • 4-years/Kindergarten
  • 1st, 2nd, 3rd grades
  • 4th & 5th grades

All Sunday School classes include age-appropriate curriculum for teaching children about God, the Bible, and Christianity. The Children's Sunday School classes for ages 4 and up are located along our brightly-decorated Children's Corridor, in the the lower level of McGrady Hall. The 2 & 3 year olds Sunday School classroom is in the 1st floor of our new addition.

Pioneer Club is a Bible-based club that allows your child to explore the Bible and to learn life skills that will help them as they grow. They learn how to use their Bibles and memorize scriptures. Children also earn badges for the life skills they explore, such as fishing, laundry, cooking, etc.

Pioneer Club meets on Sunday evenings during the school year.

6:00-8:00 pm
On the 4th Wednesday of every month, the 4th and 5th graders visit Arbor Terrace to visit the residents and eat at Stevi B’s.

Summer
During the Summer months, we have Wonderful Wednesdays — fun activities for Bethany Kids of all ages!

In addition to Sunday School and Pioneer Club, Bethany offers many more programs and special activities for children and parents in our church and our community:

Bethany Safe Sanctuary
Bethany UMC is committed to the safety of our children, who are an integral part in the life of the church. As a result, a child abuse prevention program has been developed and implemented in an effort to ensure the safety of all children and youth, protect paid workers and volunteers, and reduce the liability of the church from allegations of sexual abuse.
