Bethany United Methodist Church, "The Friendly Church at the Crossroads", is located in Smyrna, Georgia, at the intersection of Hicks and Hurt Roads.

Bethany UMC has been in our current location since the 1960's. We originally met for worship in McGrady Hall, which is now known as "The Rock" and is where Youth activities are held.

Our current sanctuary was built in the 1970's and is a traditional sanctuary decorated in dark mahogany and white painted wood with columns and a center aisle. It has pews on the main level with seating for approximately 250 and a balcony which can accommodate about 50 additional people. We have large screens to aid in worship services and for other events, such as a special screening of the movie "Fireproof" and Dave Ramsey video presentations. The chancel area includes the choir loft, organ, and piano used during for our traditional services, as well as room for our Praise Band to perform during our contemporary services.

We are currently completing a multi-million dollar building expansion to create several additional classrooms, increase the size of Lacy Hall (our fellowship hall and gym), add a permanent stage in Lacy Hall, improve our handicap accessibility with the addition of two elevators, and provide more available parking for our growing church family. In addition to a three-year Capital Building Campaign, we raised funds for the new wing by selling bricks to church members and groups. Outside we have an enclosed playground with infant and standard swings, slides for toddlers and preschoolers, and a jungle gym for older children. We also have a Scout Lodge on the property, which is used by the Boy Scouts that meet at Bethany. Our newly-expanded parking lot is accessible from Hicks Rd. or Hurt Rd.
